Wednesday night in Kincardine
After an amazing trip up #9 highway...which could be called snow alley, the South Bruce boys stepped on to the ice in Bulldog territory.
I thought we were going to open the scoring early when Darren shoveled a back hand at the net that was captured by the goalie. Johnny did a great job tieing up one of their players in his rush to the goal that forced an off sides that slowed down the advance.Kincardine opened the scoring with a man advantage to put them in the lead 1-0.
Jake had a brilliant back hand that was stopped and then another hard shot that was wide but the speedy bounce off the backboards almost hit the goalie to rebound in. Laghlan broke up a break away to take a chance away from Kincardine.
Laghlan had a pass to Darren with a beauty shot that knotted the score at 1 with 5:12 left in second. We had a man advantage that gave us some exciting moments but we could not capitalize on the extra player.
Kincardine, still a man short to start the second, had some nifty stick work infront of our net and popped them into the lead so now 2-1. Brad had another blistering shot from the blueline that was grabbed by the keeper. Some solid efforts by Darren and Simon and Bradley could not find the back of the net.
Johnny had a player start gazing, and feeling like he was hit by a truck after completely stopping their player at our blueline. The boys had wave after wave of assults on Kincardines net but no luck.
The referee consulting firm of McGlynn, Colvin, Meyer and Ruetz got the referee convinced to have the faceoff moved deep into the Kincardine end......maybe not ....but it sure felt good :) Bradley had another great shot that the goalie stopped with his belly and it is probably still a little tender today. Ended up 2-1 final.
Another hard fought game by the boys and exciting hockey!!!!
