It is a W !!! Way to go boys !!
Right from the moment the first skater stepped on to the ice the South Bruce Boys had a snap to their stride and a clear focus on what had to be done. The coaching staff were very proud of how the boys came and played another solid 40 minutes of hockey. This time however, it was nice to be rewarded with a WIN.

The boys opened the scoring with goal number one at 8:13 left in the first. Jake Ireland popped one in on a pass from Brad McGlynn and Karson Bross. That was like opening a bag of chips for the boys as everyone wanted to be involved!
The next goal was a perfect pass from the corner from Darren Ruetz to Jonathon Lamont who took a great blue line shot and we were up 2 -0.
The boys did a great job killing off a 4 minute penalty. The last goal in the first was fed by Tanner Meyer to Darren Ruetz who pushed in out 3rd goal. On top of things 3-0 now.

The second period started off with another South Bruce goal from Lachlan Alexander to Jake Ireland with Karson Bross spanking it home. We had to kill off another 2 minute penalty with one of our guys in the Box of Shame and they did a stellar job of doing so.

Simon Inglis bounced one off the post that was picked up by Tanner to Simon to Darren Ruetz who popped it in for his third point of the day. Matthew Ballagh's glove hand was hot as he kept the rubber out of the South Bruce net. As we headed into the third we were up 5-0. Two great periods of hockey!
Our 6th goal was Darren Ruetz to Simon Inglis with Tanner Meyer getting the honours. Our first man advantage was not capitalized on as they held us back even after an impressive huddle in front of their net that the puck could not find its way past the line.
They came flying back to our end and Matthew stood tall and kept out a flurry of attempts  late in  the third. Nick Hays did a great job of getting the puck up the ice yet avoiding icing the puck.

The boys proved they can come and play hockey. They worked together with solid passing and great energy over the 40 minutes. A big thank you from the boys to Coach Doug for the treat of Power-aid after the game to celebrate the first win of the season. The boys deserved it.
Hopefully they won't come back all turkey brained after Christmas!
Merry Christmas to each player and family and see you for one final game in 2013!
