What a difference a day makes!!
A solid 40 minutes of playing took place in Lions Head on Saturday with a strong performance from all players on the team.
The team must of drank a lot of coffee as they took the ice in a turn around of playing style and speed compared to Friday night......maybe Friday at 9:30 is past their bedtimes.....Maybe the young female fans in the crowd took their attention from the game, but they looked completely different today.
The score was knotted at 0 - 0 after the first period. There was two shots that found the post but bounced wide.
There was some great passing and puck handling as we entered the second period. We won several battles in the neutral zone, and not near as many icing calls as the previous night. Half way through the second frame Lions Head failed on a 4 on 1 and Andy came up strong under pressure at 8:43. We had them going in circles with a flurry of activity with 3 minutes left in the second.
Jake Ireland looked like he was wanting to teach one of the female players from Lions Head some waltz moves... End of the second....still 0 - 0 Way to go!
The penalty box planks were not warmed much today...much better than Friday as well. Only one to us in the second, and one in the third that was caused by the door swinging too freely as we had 6 guys wanting to play at once...plus the goalie...oops.
Jake Ireland and Brandon Hays had a great effort with 5 left in the 3rd but just couldn't get it past the keeper.
Even though it was a 2 - 0 loss, it was a great game to watch and the boys really came and played for 40 minutes. Keep up the great team work fellas!
