Blades and Warriors Collide
After a tough loss in Ripley, the Blades headed east to Durham to take on the Warriors in hopes of finding their groove.  Having already faced the other Warrior team the Blades knew this was going to be a tougher battle and that would need to put forth their best effort if they were to be victorious.

The Blades bench was missing a few players due to illness and the coach opted to try some new strategies. This may have resulted in the Blades not starting the game with the level of intensity that would be required to give the Warriors their first loss of the season. The Warriors would get the first goal three and a half minutes into the first period.  The Blades were unable to get the puck past the Warriors net minder but would keep the Warriors at bay ending the first down by only one goal.

A multitude of line and position changes during the second period caused some Blade confusion that unfortunately allowed the Warriors to get two goals before the five minute mark of the second.  The Blades team changed the lines up again reducing the confusion and mounting a strong comeback.   However, the Warriors would manage to get one more goal by the end of the period giving them a 4-0 lead.

Down but not out, the game plan was simple, one goal at a time, keep the pressure on and good things will happen.  Less than four minutes into the third the Blades would get on the score board cutting the Warriors lead to three.  Both teams would continue to press hard but it would be the Warriors who would find a way to beat the Blades goalie at the half way point of the period, restoring the four goal cushion.  With less than five minutes left of the game the Blades seemed to come to life as they began to play with determination.  The Blades were able to generate some glorious chances for goal scoring but would get denied by the Warriors team.  The Warriors would take advantage of a missed opportunity by the Blades and go on an odd man rush and score another goal with two and a half minutes left in the game.  Down by five and only minutes left to go in the game it was decided that the Blades would play last goal wins!  With just over a minute to go the Blades would pull their goalie and put out a sixth attacker which would pay off as the Blades would pot the last goal of the game with only 41 seconds to go. Last goal wins!

We will keep the focus on the last five minutes of the game when we came to life as a team and played some great hockey.  Keep having fun and playing hard, rewards are often the result of the effort we put forth.

Point getters in the game were Jeffrey K., Connor S., Spencer B., Owen S. and Rheyd P.
