Win, Lose or Draw
Submitted By Tara Elzinga on Monday, January 18, 2016
The Blades had faced the Kinucks 1 team the first game of the season, losing that tilt 3-0 and with the Kinucks 1 sitting high in the standings the Blades had something to prove and were ready for the rematch.  The Blades team has come a long way since game one and were ready to keep their current winning streak alive.

The game did not start the way the Blades had hoped with the Kinucks getting a lucky goal from a bad angle less than one minute into the game.  The Blades settled down and stuck to their game plan shutting down the Kinucks offence while generating many quality chances that would just not find the back of the net.  The Blades would get the first power play of the game at the half way point of the first but were unable to get the equalizer.  Neither team would give up another goal ending the first with the Blades down by one.

The second period was a hard fought battle at both ends of the ice with each team getting chances but both goalies would stand their ground turning way or smothering everything that came near them and not allowing either team to get a break.  The Blades would get a second power play midway through the second period but the Kinucks would keep the Blades at bay not allowing them to score.

The third period saw the Blades continue to pressure and play hard, maybe a little too hard as the Blades would be assessed their first penalty of the game.  The Blades team would do a great job killing off the penalty and even getting a few shots on net at the same time.  With the Blades entire team continuing to elevate their game, the pressure and hard work would pay off late in the third as the Blades would tie the game with just over four minutes to go.  The team was now fired up and everyone dug deep in the late stages of the game coming ever so close to getting the go ahead goal.  The Kinucks would manage to fend off the onslaught of chances the Blades would generate in the final minutes to end the game in a 1-1 draw.

This was some of the best effort I have seen from the entire team! Keep elevating your game boys every time you step on the ice!

Point getters for the game were Spencer B. and Shawn B.
