Blades Prey on Wolves
Having played their best game thus far in the season against the Falcons, the Blades hoped to carry that energy and momentum against the Ripley Wolves as they battled hard to the last buzzer.

From the moment the puck hit the ice it was easy to tell the Blades came to the rink to win.  The level of play displayed against the Falcon’s carried over to this game against the Wolves as the Blades would push hard.  The Blades dominated the play and created many quality scoring chances as they would pressure the Wolves where the puck was.  Both net minders would be tested throughout the first as they both turned away shot after shot, ending the period with no score.

The Blades would continue to control most of the second as well with strong puck possession and lots of shots on goal.  The goalie and defense would shut down the Wolves offence and the constant pressure of the forwards would result in turnovers allow the Blades to mount a strong attack.  The Blades hard work was rewarded with the first goal of the game and the only goal of the period with two and half minutes to go in the second.

With one period to go, the Blades would not let up as they would continue to force the Wolves to turn over the puck, which would result in another Blades goal just past three minutes into the third.  Playing great positional hockey, fore checking hard the Blades had the Wolves on the run. However, an innocent play from the corner gave the Wolves a lucky break as the puck would ricochet off one of the Blades defense and find its way past the Blades net minder cutting the two goal lead in half.  Both teams battled hard for the rest of the period getting plenty of pucks to the net, forcing turnovers and generating quality scoring chances but the game would end before either team was able to score again, giving the Blades a 2-1 victory!

Point getters for the game were, Cayden H., Travis S. and Owen S.

Great effort boys, keep playing hard!
