After being shut out the game before, South Bruce headed to
Hanover to do battle with the Falcons LL2 team in hopes of getting back to
their winning ways.
Despite the loss in the previous game, the Blades were hoping to continue the level of play displayed in the third period. The team was focused and ready to fight hard to get the win as the Blades dominated the play throughout the first period. Despite the hard effort the Falcons would get on the score board first, scoring less than two minutes into the game. The constant pressure and hard work of the Blades would result in the equalizer in the final seconds of the period.
The second period was witness to a Blades team wanting the win. The hard work at both ends of the ice was evident. The Blades would get many quality scoring opportunities. Hard back checking and solid defense was able to turn away the Falcons offence. With a mad scramble around the side of the net the Falcons would jump on a loose puck to get the go ahead goal with less than three minutes to go in the second. The Falcons ended the period up by one.
Not taking their foot off the gas, the Blades would continue to dominate the play only to be turned away by the Falcons goalie time and again. The Falcons team would find opportunities to get the puck deep in the Blades territory getting scoring chances of their own, only to be shut down by the Blades net minder and some great puck clearing plays by the defense. Down by one, less than a minute to go in the game with the puck in the offensive zone, the Blades pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. The Blades were rewarded with a huge goal to tie the game at two with eighteen seconds remaining on the clock.
