The Blades had home ice advantage facing the Ice Dogs in
hopes of extending their winning streak, but it would be the Ice Dogs who would
be the top dogs in this contest.
The Blades seemed determine to keep their winning streak alive as they would press hard in the first period in hopes of showing the Dogs who was boss. The Ice Dogs however, had a different plan in mind as they fought back just as hard and would get the scoring started with just over one minute to go in the first period.
Down by one the Blades were not shaken and were ready to get the equalizer early but things did not go our way as the Ice Dogs would score on the first shift of the second. Not shaken or rattled, the Blades would press on, only to be turned away time and again by the Ice Dogs net minder. Both teams would continue to battle hard at both ends of the ice. But it would be the Ice Dogs who would get a lucky bounce, potting their third goal of the game with four and half minutes to go in the second. Neither down nor out the Blades would continue to work hard to get back in the game. The Ice Dogs would be rewarded with another goal with less than a minute to go in the second.
Down by four the Blades were still not ready to submit to the Ice Dogs as they played their best hockey of the game creating many scoring chances and shutting down their opponent. Both teams battled hard for the entire period with neither team allowing the other to get a goal. Although the Blades were shut out there was some great hockey played. If nothing else, there is an opportunity to start a new streak.
