South Bruce Bantam AE moves onto OMHA Semi-Finals Vs. Ilderton
The South Bruce Bantam AE team has moved onto face the Ilderton Jets in the OMHA Semi-Finals.  They accomplished this after coming out first in a round robin with Mitchell and Goderich.  The winner of this best of five Semi-Finals will face either Lakefield or Goderich.  Since there was three teams in WOAA for Bantam AE Groups 4 & 5 this year, South Bruce played a home and home round robin with Mitchell and Goderich.  The top seed went onto play Ilderton whereas the second place team went to the East to face Lakefield.  South Bruce prevailed going 4-0 after these round robin games. 


Convincing 4-0 Win In Mitchell

On Saturday, January 18th, South Bruce travelled to Mitchell to face off against the Mitchell Bantam AE team.  South Bruce played a solid team game and came out with a 4-0 victory.  Carter Schaus got the shutout for South Bruce.  Goals came from Caleb Hawkins, Jeremiah Lemay, Curtis Ruetz and Kirk Schiestel.  Assisting on these goals were Karson Bross, Kalen Cassidy, Max Jones, Jeremiah Lemay, Kirk Schiestel, Justin Fischer and Curtis Ruetz.  

4-1 Win in Goderich

On Saturday, Feb. 1st, South Bruce made the trek up to Goderich despite road conditions being less than ideal.  This game was a lot closer than the score would indicate, but a late charge by South Bruce as well as an empty netter saw the final be a 4-1 score.  Spencer Reinhardt played solid in net for South Bruce in this contest.  Goals came from Rhys Martin with 2, Kalen Cassidy and Curtis Ruetz.  Assists were awarded to Garret Kreager, Clayton Dietz and Jordan Ernewein.  

5-4 Overtime Win vs. Mitchell

On Saturday, Feb. 8th, Mitchell travelled to Teeswater to play the second part of the home and home series with the South Bruce Bantam AE’s.  South Bruce jumped out to an early lead 3-1 but this lead was short lived as Mitchell made it 4-3.  South Bruce scored with under 5 minutes to go to force OT.  South Bruce capitalized early in OT on a power play goal by Caleb Hawkins to give South Bruce the win.  Curtis Ruetz had a goal and 3 assists, Kalen Cassidy had 2 goals, Jordan Ernewein also scored.  Assists were picked up by Jeremiah Lemay, Kirk Schiestel and Caleb Hawkins had 2 assists to go with his OT winner.  

3-1 Win over Goderich

On Sunday, Feb. 16th, Goderich travelled to Mildmay to suit up against South Bruce.  This game had big implications as the winner took first place in the round robin division.  South Bruce came out on top with a 3-1 score thanks to Carter Schaus, whose shutout bid was snapped in the final minute of the game.  Scoring for South Bruce were Jeremiah Lemay, Clayton Dietz and Rhys Martin.  Nabbing assists were Max Jones, Darren Ruetz and Rhys Martin  

Next series against Ilderton

The South Bruce Bantam AE team now goes on to face the Ilderton Jets in a best of 5 series.

Game 2 - Saturday, Mar. 1st in Teeswater @ 5:30pm
Game 3 - Sunday, Mar. 2nd in Ilderton @ 2:30pm
Game 4 - Friday, Mar. 7th in Teeswater @ 7:00pm
Game 5 - Saturday, Mar. 8th in Ilderton @ 8:10pm
Game 6 - Sunday, Mar. 9th in Mildmay @ 3:00pm
