SBMH 2017-2018 Volunteer Season Has Arrived! We are looking forward to the upcoming season. If you have volunteered before you are aware of most the information that follows. If you are new to our organization, Welcome, we will try to make volunteering as painless as possible. Volunteering is very important to our organization as the proceeds from both the booths in Teeswater and Mildmay along with the proceeds from tournaments bring the registration fee down by I believe almost 50%. As you can imagine there would be a lot less families able to register if the fee were doubled. Through your efforts you help to keep SBMH’s numbers up and at the same time make it more affordable for your own family. Each family is required to volunteer in the food booth or help with tournaments (be on the tournament committee). If you have chosen to do booth time you will be required to complete at least 6 shifts and maybe as many as 10. The booth times are scheduled in two week periods. Week one and two of a month and weeks three and four of a month. You will be contacted before your two week period begins and given game times that need to be covered in the booth. Donna Watke will be the booth leader for the Mildmay booth. If you have not been contacted and know that you have signed up for duties in Mildmay please contact her. Her information is as follows: Email :[email protected] Cell: 519-881-9112 . Shannon Henry will be the booth leader for the Teeswater booth. Email: [email protected], Text: 519-807-3926. Uninformed will not be an accepted excuse for a missed shift. If you miss a shift, SBMHA will cash your volunteer cheque. If you are working the shift that is the first of the day or evening, please be there 45 minutes early. If you are working a regular shift you are required to be there 30 minutes early. This year you will not be required to complete booth training unless you have not worked in the booth previously! All first year families as well as families joining from other centres for the season will be required to complete a booth training session. Inability to run the booth will also not be an excuse for a missed shift. We hope to run booth training sessions for first year families following their parent meetings, as a group, in hopes of taking up less time. The booth committee will do our best to make things run smoothly, please keep in mind that we are volunteering our time for the benefit of our children and our community. In turn we will keep in mind that you are also volunteers giving up precious time with your families to do the same thing. I’m sure if we all work together we can make it an enjoyable experience for everyone. It would be great if we could have a season that no cheques need be cashed unless requested. If you feel that your cheque has been cash wrongfully you may contact the Presdient, in writing, which will then be discussed at the next minor hockey meeting. If you have any concerns please contact myself : Shannon Henry Email:[email protected] or Text or Call 519-807-3926 I will do my best to help in anyway I can. Please continue to check the website regularly for updates.
