Update to Rules and Guidelines for start of Hockey Season

Rules and Guidelines

Here is what South Bruce Minor Hockey Association is working on for the start of the hockey season. The rules follow that of the WOAA and the Municipality of South Bruce and are subject to change during the season. Changes could be with team structure, game structure, bubble size, facility use rules etc.

 

17Sep2020 Information Update

·         The Municipality of South Bruce has indicated it is their intention to open both arenas this season

·         Each age group will be scheduled for 2 ice times per week

·         Planned season start is in first half of October

 

Team formation:

·         There will be no tryouts

·         There will be no traditional Rep and Local league teams

·         Team size (maximum): 9 skaters and 1 goalie

·         Players will be limited to a 50 player (maximum bubble) which may include neighbouring centres within the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit

·         There will be inter association game play

 

Facility Use/ COVID-19 precautions:

·         There is currently a 50 person maximum within the arena facilities therefore there will be a limit of one parent per child allowed in the arena

·         Physical distancing, hand sanitization and mask use will all be as per the arena use guidelines

·         Players will arrive dressed for hockey except for helmet, gloves and skates

·         Players will wear a mask until time to go on the ice

·         Anyone entering the arena will need to complete health screening questionnaire

·         Attendance records will be kept for contact tracing purposes

·         Players will be required to bring own water bottle with no sharing

·         There will be no drills with prolonged player contact

 

 

Game Structure

·         Games will be 3 on 3 or 4 or 4

Rules have not been communicated but there will be rules modifications to:

·         Faceoffs

·         Penalties

·         Body contact

·         Scrums for the puck

·         Off sides

·         Icing
