IMPORTANT Memo for Parents/Guardians of ALL OMHA registered hockey players

IMPORTANT Memo for Parents/Guardians of ALL OMHA registered hockey players

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Development Committee has proposed and passed that the Respect initiative be expanded to reach all OMHA stakeholders which include the parents and/or guardians of the players.  This change mandates that one parent or guardian of each player registered in the OMHA will have completed the online Respect in Sport Parent Education Program by August 2014.

The South Bruce Minor Hockey Board supports this initiative and is making this a condition of player registration for all players 17 years of age and younger for the upcoming 2014-15 season.  Your coach has been asked to share a letter outlining the details of the initiative and that letter is also available as an attachment below.  You will also see an attachment titled “Frequently Asked Questions”.  Please review it carefully as it is likely to answer many of your questions.

The board is suggesting that parents and/or guardians consider completing the online program as soon as possible as it is available now on the OMHA website (links below re: general information and login set up).  The cost of the online course is $12.00 plus HST which can be paid via credit card or PayPal.    Once you have completed the course,   you are able to print off a certificate which you will then show at the time of player registration.

If you have questions or concerns, feel free to speak to your coach or Jane Tolton (519-335-6551 or at [email protected]).
