27th Annual Kincardine Silver Stick Champions
Congratulations to the South Bruce Pee Wee Rep Boys for winning the 27th Annual Kincardine Silver Stick Tournament!

Friday was the start of the tournament for the South Bruce Boys and the first team they would face-off against was Flesherton, a rematch from the Mitchell Tournament where South Bruce won.  The game started slow and the boys were not in synch, but they would recover and start moving the puck well.  Good defense and timely goaltending would seal the deal as the Boys would go on to shut-out their rivals and win this one 3-0.

The second game Friday afternoon was against a team that the boys didn't know much about.  The game started strong for both teams who moved the puck well and the speed of the game was much better than the first game against Flesherton.  Each team had their chances and as the game went on, it was hard to determine which team was going to score first.  With good passing and great effort, the South Bruce team opened the scoring, and you had to wonder if it would be enough.  As the second wound down, Georgian Shores forced the play and got a real good opportunity, but the South Bruce team shut them down with a real good save by the goalie and good defense by both the forwards and defensemen.  The third period came and both teams were still playing a real high tempo game and one would doubt that a one goal lead would hold, but with a real good rush by the defense to create a two on one, and then a nice pass to the forward, it was notched at 2-0 and the South Bruce kids were excited for the finish.  Still Georgian Shores pressed, but it was not enough as South Bruce would have their second shut-out of the tournament.

Game #3 was Saturday afternoon and the kids deserved the much needed rest.  This time they would play Norwich, another team they have not met this year.  The game started pretty evenly, but the South Bruce kids would take control and never look back.  This one ended 7-0 and the boys had their 3rd shut-out of the tournament and would move on to the semis.

Game #4 was Sunday and South Bruce would meet up with the one team who beat them this year - the team from Bylth-Brussels.  This team is solid and the boys knew they would have to play real good hockey to beat them.  As it turned out, the boys started the scoring the second shift of the game with a neat baseball type play, showing some good hand eye coordination.  The boys would score another, making it two nothing early with some real good passing and aggressive play.  Bylth-Brussels got into some penalty trouble and the defense came up with another goal and the boys would score another to make it 4-0 by the end of the 2nd.  The 3rd was a little slower, but the kids were able to keep their opponents off the board to get their 4th shut-out of the tournament, again with good goaltending, aggressive play and great defense.

The Finals would occur Monday in Kincardine against the Minto Mad Dogs who also went undefeated in the tournament.  Each team came off of big wins in the semis and were eager to get the win.  As the first started, Minto pressured South Bruce and were moving the puck well.  The defense with help from the forwards were keeping the chances to a minimum and the goaltending was strong once again.  With a real good effort and a real nice pass out in front of the net, the forward would lift one over the Minto goalie to make it 1-0.  Minto still came at the South Bruce kids, but the Boys would start moving the puck better and started to get more and more chances and next thing you know, it was 2-0 and then 3-0.  It looked good for the kids, but Minto would keep attacking and even pulled their goalie with a couple minutes left to give it their all in hope of coming back.  It was not to be as the South Bruce kids would shut the door, getting their 5th shut-out in as many games and winning the 27th Annual Silver Stick Tournament in Kincardine.

Congratulation to all of the kids.  Great work.
