Wingham Christmas Tournament Win!
The South Bruce Local League 2 team travelled to Wingham for their first tournament of the year and came away the winners!

The South Bruce Local League 2 boys are girls were pumped up after a holly, jolly Christmas and gave a nice present to the Coaching staff with some of their best played hockey all year.

The tournament started off nice and early Friday morning against the host Wingham team.  The game started with Wingham applying pressure and taking it to the South Bruce kids.  The first period was a bit of a rough one, but the South Bruce kids did not get down. Even though they were trailing after the 1st - by the 3rd period they had game tied.  Who was going to win this one? Well it looked like it could be anyone.  With a fortunate play, the Wingham team was able to get up by a goal to make it 5-4 and that is how the game ended.  Kids - good work not giving up and playing hard to the final buzzer sounded.

The second game would see the South Bruce team play against the second Wingham team.  The kids still happy with a real good first game, came strong out of the gate and dominated play most of the game.  The parents and coaches notice a real connection between the defensive pairings and the forwards were making nice plays and making several good passes.  This one would be dominated by the South Bruce kids and they came away with a much deserved 4-1 victory - their second victory of the year sending them to the finals.

With some scheduling questions, the two South Bruce teams were headed off to play each other in the C- finals of the tournament and it looked like the organizers had each community square off against their other home town team.  The Finals started the same way as Game #2 ended with the South Bruce LL2 team skating fast and passing well.  We gotta say how well the defense did holding the blue line, keeping the puck in the opponents zone.  The Coaches looked at each other smiling a few times when the forwards were making some real nice "hockey" plays advancing the puck out of our zone into the oppositions zone.  Overall, you could see that the kids were learning the importance of positional play and it really benefitted them.  The game was pretty one sided, but the other South Bruce team made some real nice plays too and worked hard after a real long but rewarding day of hockey.

Good work SBLL2 as the winners of the C-division- and keep this winning streak going!
