South Bruce Face-Off
The boys and girls of South Bruce came together Friday night to face off with each other in our first meeting of the year.

South Bruce LL1 and South Bruce LL2 faced off against each other at the Mildmay Complex.  It was nice to see kids super excited to be playing against their best friends and that excitement flooded on over to the ice where the play was fast and furious.

The first period started off quickly with both teams exchanging chances.  Great goaltending was evident right from the start with both goalies making key saves to keep the game close.  With a quick rush and a hard low shot, South Bruce LL2 hit the twine and the score was 1-0.  I looked like LL2 would score again as the puck was passed out in front of the net a few times and the kid dug and dug, but couldn't get it into the net.

The crowd was in it and you could feel the tension, well maybe not, but everyone was having a good time laughing and cheering for both teams.  As the first went on and into the second, South Bruce LL1 started to take over the play getting a lot of chances and started hitting the net with some real nice high flicks.  Soon it was 4-1 for LL1 and it looked like this could become a real one-sided affair, even though the LL2 goalie was still making a lot of key saves.

The 3rd period came and the LL2 kids seemed to find their stride, starting to put a lot of pressure onto the LL1 team.  They scored once making the game close at 4-2 and then they scored again setting it up to be a wild finish as the game was now 4-3.  It was not meant to be, as the LL1 team rushed to the LL2 teams zone, fired the puck, which hit a stick on its way to the net and deflected high to make it 5-3.

What an exciting game and good work to both teams.
